Contest Giveaway: ‘Gone Girl’ Book and Blu-Ray/DVD Movie

gone-girl_blu-ray-movie_contest-giveaway

Here’s your chance to WIN a movie-tie book of Gone Girl by Gillian Flynn and Blu-Ray/DVD

BOOK SYNOPSIS

On a warm summer morning in North Carthage, Missouri, it is Nick and Amy Dunne’s fifth wedding anniversary. Presents are being wrapped and reservations are being made when Nick’s clever and beautiful wife disappears from their rented McMansion on the Mississippi River. Husband-of-the-Year Nick isn’t doing himself any favors with cringe-worthy daydreams about the slope and shape of his wife’s head, but passages from Amy’s diary reveal the alpha-girl perfectionist could have put anyone dangerously on edge. Under mounting pressure from the police and the media–as well as Amy’s fiercely doting parents–the town golden boy parades an endless series of lies, deceits, and inappropriate behavior. Nick is oddly evasive, and he’s definitely bitter–but is he really a killer?

As the cops close in, every couple in town is soon wondering how well they know the one that they love. With his twin sister, Margo, at his side, Nick stands by his innocence. Trouble is, if Nick didn’t do it, where is that beautiful wife? And what was in that silvery gift box hidden in the back of her bedroom closet?

I just saw the movie yesterday and while I enjoyed it, I couldn’t help thinking I would get more out of it if I read it. I know…I should know that since I’m a book blogger, but it really validated that for me. I’d love to read the book, but I’m even more excited to read the book, Amazing Amy!! I was actually most intrigued about Amy’s parents and their book series, because I love that something great can spin out of an amazing book. Thanks for the opportunity!

I bought Gone Girl on Boxing Day 2012. I saw the trailer for the movie and thought I should read this pretty soon. When I finished Half Bad, someone said they want to see the movie and I know I had the book. So I picked it up and read. Oh, my gosh. These two characters are quite something! I’m on Team Nick despite what he did but early on you’ll find out they’re both guilty of something. I personally am still Nick for a very spoiler reason, despite what he did! (He’s not forgiven for that). Many comment the ending is something they hate. It surprised me for sure. But I’m being honest, I did find it twisting all the time. I couldn’t even bare to watch the trailer every time I saw it on TV and my bookmark sat inside the book. I couldn’t handle it! But as a writer myself, I don’t know what other kind of ending Flynn could’ve done. If she did the opposite, I would’t be satisfied, and neither would she. And after reading Gone Girl, I got her other two books in pretty paperbacks for half off! 😀
Then I saw the movie and it was word for word the book. Amazing! They took out two characters but that’s okay since if they were included, the movie would’ve been a half hour longer. What was more fun was watching everyone around me gasp and get scared because clearly, I must’ve been the only one to read the book 🙂 And also a gruesome, graphic scene in the end, oh yeah nothing is censored in the movie from the book, naked scenes and swearing, all there, while everyone was getting scared, I just kept eating my popcorn. Haha. No off stage scenes in this movie and I loved it.

I passed on reading GONE GIRL, until I saw the movie in theatres. Holy crap that was a movie that made you think about everything. I was pretty traumatized by the end. I wasn’t the only one gasping and talking during the entire movie. Crazy! I read the book after watching the movie and wasn’t surprised they stuck with the book since Gillian wrote the screenplay!
