A Cupcake and a Latte: YA Reviews

Name: Wendy aka Mocha Latte

Location: Toronto, Canada

Why did you start a book blog?

After working at a local Chapters for two years I had decided to spread my love for my favorite novels and my thoughts on my not so favorite novels online. I had heard from a co-worker about Goodreads and subsequently joined. After being on the site for little over a year, fellow review readers convinced me to create a blog; my very own space that I could control and contribute my own thoughts while also contributing other novel related posts. After much convincing, I finally created “A Cupcake and a Latte: YA Reviews“. Since then I’ve been blogging for nearly a year and reviewing on Goodreads for two. It’s been an incredible experience!

If you could be ANY character from ANY novel, who would you be and why?

I’d have to pick June from Marie Lu’s LEGEND. I actually recently finished the title and instantly found June admirable. She’s strong, fierce, and cunning – seriously one of the best heroines I’ve read!

What is that ONE book you keep re-reading over and over again and never get sick of?

One novel that I’ve always run back to and never been sick of has been Clockwork Angel by Cassandra Clare. For whatever unknown reason, the novel’s late 1800’s London setting and mix of Shadowhunters has intrigued me beyond words and explanation. I’m also a big fan of Magnus Bane (the man is a God, I tell you!)

How do you pick which book you’re going to read/buy/review?

Honestly, I can never predict what I will and won’t enjoy. Usually I’m not a fan of post-apocalyptic titles because, frankly, sometimes they aren’t done very well. But lately I’ve been falling head over heels for some, something that’s caught me by surprise. Usually a decent romance is what sells me to buy the novel, that and something in the paranormal genre. Other then that, when it comes to contemporary and realistic fiction titles, it varies in taste.
