We all know there are book bloggers, but there are also BookTubers on YouTube who talk about books. Here are some of my favourites! Make sure to drop by and check their videos out.
I want to first start off by thanking you Giselle for having me on your blog! I’ve been a fan of your site for quite some time now, and am so happy to have gotten to know you better these past couple of months via booktube!
My name is Caitlin, I’m seventeen and am Canadian blogger and booktuber! I spend a slightly insane amount of time reading, editing, watching YouTube videos and drinking caffeine. I’ve always wanted to be a tea drinker (because lets face it, tea people have SO many more options) and deciding which book I’m going to read next is a constant struggle. Basically, my life is the result of repeated childhood viewings of Gilmore Girls and You’ve Got Mail 😛
Well, for those of you who don’t already know, I’ve run a blog called, The Y.A. Bookworm Blogger, for over two years. I thoroughly enjoyed posting reviews and other fun bookish stuff on there (and still do) but I wanted to find a way to connect with my readers in a more direct way. Years of avid YouTube watching led me to discover the book tube community and, as they say, the rest is history!
To film my videos, I use my Canon Rebel T2i camera (which I bought a few years prior to starting my channel) and rocket fish 70” tripod. Once I’m finished filming, I import my footage onto my laptop and edit with iMovie. I also recently purchased an external hard-drive because I discovered that MacBooks don’t handle storing hours worth of HD videos well….I learned the hard way O_o
Currently, my favourite videos to film are book hauls because not only am I excited about the fact that I have new books to add to my shelf, but my viewers also seem to really enjoy watching them…..plus, people’s passion in the comments about which books they loved/hated help me in deciding which ones I want to read first! Haha!
So far, I don’t think book tube has made a huge difference in the way I read, but it most definitely has effected my book buying habits! When booktubers get enthusiastic about a particular novel, it immediately goes on my radar. Between the recommendations from both the book blogging and book tube community, my “To-Buy” list seems to be constantly growing!
In no particular order, just a few of my favourites include:
AHH….I have such difficulties picking favourites….again, in no particular order, some of them include:
…..And MANY more !!!
I’m no expert, but I think the most important tip I can pass on to new BookTubers is to not worry so much about having the “best equipment” or “fanciest editing software,” and instead put focus on letting your personality show through your videos. We are all unique and have an individual voice, so I think it’s important to spend time getting comfortable in-front of a camera and letting the things that make you, YOU, come out….if you fumble on a word or do something quirky, that’s okay, it adds character and entertainment to your video! People will have a better time relating to you if your authentic 🙂
