So, I don’t normally attend signings. Sometimes I have plans, or I’m busy, or I can’t get the car to drive all the way downtown to attend, so once I heard that none other than the infamous Maggie Stiefvater was going to be signing at my local Chapters, I immediately jumped at the chance.
I don’t have very many friends in real life who are obsessed about books as I am, so being the great best friend that she is, Anna came and accompanied me. Maggie was coming around 7pm, but I was late and ended up getting there around 6:20pm. Thank God the line wasn’t too long. We ended up at the end of one row of books, and as I was waiting, Sonia from The Story Queen asked me if I was Giselle from Book Nerd Canada. How crazy is that?! Two Canadian bloggers standing next to each other! (It’s fate I tell ya..) We promptly started talking about books and even snapped a pic together.
Around 7pm on the dot, Chandra from Indigo Teen Blog came up and introduced Maggie. I unfortunately was in line, and couldn’t see the entire Q&A session (although I snapped a photo of her talking), but I did hear it.
Maggie is as witty and as charming as her books. She made everyone laugh out loud with her funny voice impressions. Love it! After all the questions were answered, Chapters did an auction for a signed Raven Boys poster. The proceeds would be donated to a local school.
Around 8pm the signing with Maggie started, and the line moved quickly. Before I knew it, I was at the table with Maggie. I told her how much I enjoyed The Raven Boys, and asked if her there are going to be four books in the series, which there will be. Then she asked me if I’m from Twitter :O Maggie Steifvater recognized me from Twitter!
I basically fangirled and freaked out. She’s such a joy to be around with, always smiling and laughing. (See the Raven?!) I took a photo with her, and thanked her. I felt like I was on a high. Authors are like celebrities to me.
