Clea Raymond has felt the glare of the spotlight her entire life.
The daughter of a renowned surgeon & a prominent politician, Clea has grown to be a talented photojournalist.
But following Clea's father's disappearance, Clea's photos begin to feature eerie, shadowy images of a strange & beautiful man - a man she has never seen before.
I was a little wary of reading a novel by a celebrity, but I gave Hilary Duff’s Elixir a chance and surprisingly it was good! The writing is decent aand solid.
We find Clea trying to live a normal life after the sudden disappearance of her father. After her impromptu trip in Paris with best friend Rayna, she finds a boy in every single photo she is in and every photo she has taken. Not to mention she starts to have dreams of him in different lifetimes with her death ending each relationship. Considering the possibility he might be a ghost or her guardian angel, she seeks the help of her other best friend Ben. Since Clea is a photographer she accepts an assignment to photograph Carnival in Rio. Together they venture to Brazil and that’s where she meets Sage. Sage who happens to be wearing her dad’s watch and is also the boy in the photograph. That’s where the story starts to get interesting and Clea goes on a mission to find her father.
I thought her past relationships with Sage were truly interesting, and I wished there were more detail into each one. This book is truly about love. What it means to have a soulmate and what it takes to get someone you love back. Clea is a pretty strong character albeit a horny one. Clea and Sage’s relationship started really quickly but I assumed it’s just because their souls have finally found each other again and they’re picking up their relationship right where they left it.
What does it take to get your soulmate back? I guess I’ll have I find out in her second novel.
