For months Clara Gardner trained to face the fire from her visions, but she wasn't prepared for the choice she had to make that day. And in the aftermath, she discovered that nothing about being part angel is as straightforward as she thought.

Now, torn between her love for Tucker and her complicated feelings about the roles she and Christian seem destined to play in a world that is both dangerous and beautiful, Clara struggles with a shocking revelation: Someone she loves will die in a matter of months. With her future uncertain, the only thing Clara knows for sure is that the fire was just the beginning.

In this compelling sequel to Unearthly, Cynthia Hand captures the joy of first love, the anguish of loss, and the confusion of becoming who you are.

Clara’s back in the second novel as confused as ever about her mission. Still reeling about her Black Wing encounter she feels thatcher mom is keeping a big secret from her. Her visions get stronger and her ability to draw glory is harder to master. With help from Angela and Christian, they find out the truth about their history of being Angel Bloods.

I thought this book was very slow. A lot of back-story was introduced which is good but the way it was done, it took soo long that I almost fell asleep. Not to say this novel didn’t have its high points. That Christian is relentless and Tucker is the prefect boyfriend. Who does Clara choose? I do enjoy love triangles and this one was definitely dramatic.

Make sure to also check out Unearthly #1 because that’s the first one in the series.

They have chosen to separate themselves from God, and that causes then an almost unbearable pain. (68)
Don’t give up your life for a guy. Not even a great guy. Not even Tucker. (134)
He never wanted to let me go. He wanted to fight for me. Every part of him was telling him to fight, but he didn’t know how. He thought maybe the purest form of love us letting me go. (239)

Good review. There were a lot of cliff hangers in this book. I am in love with Tucker and I hate when him and Clara fight.

I bought a paperback of this one a few days ago but I haven’t gotten around to reading it. I will though. The first book is awesome. Hopefully, this is as good as Unearthly. Though it only got a 3/5 stars from you. Hmm.
