Description
One choice can transform you or it can destroy you. But every choice has consequences, and as unrest surges in the factions all around her, Tris Prior must continue trying to save those she loves, and herself, while grappling with haunting questions of grief and forgiveness, identity and loyalty, politics and love.
Tris’s initiation day should have been marked by celebration and victory with her chosen faction; instead, the day ended with unspeakable horrors. War now looms as conflict between the factions and their ideologies grows. And in times of war, sides must be chosen, secrets will emerge, and choices will become even more irrevocable and even more powerful.
Transformed by her own decisions but also by haunting grief and guilt, radical new discoveries, and shifting relationships, Tris must fully embrace her Divergence, even if she does not know what she may lose by doing so.
New York Times bestselling author Veronica Roth’s much-anticipated second book of the dystopian Divergent series is another intoxicating thrill ride of a story, rich with hallmark twists, heartbreaks, romance, and powerful insights about human nature.

Review
When we left off in Divergent, Tris was escaping the power hungry clutches of the Erudite faction. Together with Tobias, Marcus, Caleb and Susan they seek solace in the headquarters of Amity. I very much enjoyed the look behind the different factions and what their main purpose was. I’m sure that most people will like that part as well. There’s a lot of information that is held within the books and I couldn’t help. It applaud Veronica Roth for adding more to this dystopian society that has me gripped.
Tris breaks alliances, forges new ones, makes new friends and most of all keeps true to herself. There is a lot of teen angst in this one and I really tried not to kick Four in the head. He seemed so douchy! But I guess their relationship is strained just because of their curren situation. A war is brewing and I’m hoping that the rebel forces will ultimately attack and take them down. Tris keeps getting nightmares about killing Will and I couldn’t help but shudder every time she did.
Oh and that ending. Seriously! I wanted to know more. Cliffhanger endings seem to be trending in YA novels and I can’t help but love it. I enjoyed Insurgent better than Divergent but I’m also hoping the last and final book in this trilogy will blow us away.

Quotes
“She isn’t your little anything.”—Tobias
“People just want to be happy, even if it’s not real.”—Tobias
“I am not the kind of person who just sits back and lets other people take all the risks.”—Trish
“People, I have discovered, are layers and layers of secrets. You believe you know then, that you understand them, but their motives are always hidden from you, buried in their own hearts. You will never know them, but sometimes you decide to trust them.”—Trish

I love this book so much, words can’t even describe it. And ALL THE FREAKING PLOT TWISTS. Veronica Roth, cheers to you. You are and unbelievable genius. Your review basically said just about everything I thought about the book. Even the kicking Four part. (I’m sorry Tobias. Love you, but you do act like a butthead at times.) And whenever I think about the last Divergent book’s release date, part of me’s like “Nooo, that’s too far away for me to bear,” while the other half’s like “What? So soon? I don’t want this to end yet!”
Great review!
I’m reading this one soon, so I’m glad you enjoyed it so much. I’ve seen mixed opinions, but it IS the middle book, so it’s understandable if it’s not quite as awesome.
I love, love, loved Insurgent!! I can’t get enough of these books and that cliffhanger made me want more. I need to read the next book! lol This series is one of my favorite dystopian worlds so far and I thank Veronica Roth for that!
Great review!
