Colby and Bev have a long-standing pact: graduate, hit the road with Bev's band, and then spend the year wandering around Europe. But moments after the tour kicks off, Bev makes a shocking announcement: she's abandoning their plans - and Colby - to start college in the fall.

But the show must go on and The Disenchantments weave through the Pacific Northwest, playing in small towns and dingy venues, while roadie- Colby struggles to deal with Bev's already-growing distance and the most important question of all: what's next?

Morris Award–finalist Nina LaCour draws together the beauty and influences of music and art to brilliantly capture a group of friends on the brink of the rest of their lives.

review

Colby and Bev have been best friend since they were just 7 years old. High school is almost over for them both and they’re ready to hit the road and go to Europe on the trip of their lifetime.

While on tour with the all-girl band called The Disenchantments, Bev tells Colby she has applied to college and won’t be going with him. The sudden change in plans make Colby question his relationship with his best friend.

Road trips are always so much fun an this book achieved many of the usual problems that would ensue if one went on one. Colby meets a lot of interesting characters on the way and finds the truth about himself, Bev and even his parents. You can say the book is about growing up. It sure felt like he learned a few things.

I really enjoyed this book. It was cute, witty and a fun read!
