Top Ten Tuesday is an original feature/weekly meme created at The Broke and the Bookish. We’d love to share our lists with other bookish folks and would LOVE to see your top ten lists. For the list of past topics and future schedule, click here.
I decided to split this into both historical and futuristic, the past and the future. Here are the ten books I’d love to read.
1. The Crown’s Game by Evelyn Skye
Magical powers in the Ottoman empire all for a game? Sign me up. This sounds like my type of book.
2. These Vicious Masks by Tarun Shanker
Jane Austen meets X-Men set in Victorian London? Sounds so crazy! I wonder how they will be fighting if they’re wearing all ball gowns..
3. A Tree Grows in Brooklyn by Betty Smith
A classic that I have yet to read though I keep seeing it all the time in the store and gazing wistfully at it.
4. The Diary of a Young Girl by Anne Frank
Here’s another classic I have yet to read. It sounds like a gut-wrenching read though so maybe that’s why I’ve been avoiding it for a bit.
5. Between Shades of Gray by Ruta Sepetys
This one has been sitting on my bookshelf for a while now. I have no idea why I haven’t been in the mood to pick this one up since Ruta is such a great writer.
6. The Marked Girl by Lindsey Klingele
This blends fantasy into science fiction and that to me already makes me want to drop what I’m reading and read this now.
7. Firstlife by Gena Showalter
To be honest, this one drew me in because of the beautiful cover, but it also sounds great. Parallel worlds always intrigue me.
8. Uglies by Scott Westerfeld
If beauty really mattered in this future, this is what would probably happen. I have this series still and haven’t picked it up.
9. Robopocalypse by Daniel H. Wilson
“They are in your house. They are in your car. They are in the skies…Now they’re coming for you.” Heh that sounds chilling..Robots taking over? Not exactly the most unique concept, but I can’t help but love the cliche story.
10. The Adoration of Jenna Fox by Mary E. Pearson
I love Mary’s writing from her The Remnant Chronicles series so I want to see how she’s going to write sci-fi.
