Trailer: The Mortal Instruments Teaser – City of Bones

Set in contemporary New York City, a seemingly ordinary teenager, Clary Fray (Lily Collins), discovers she is the descendant of a line of Shadowhunters, a secret cadre of young half-angel warriors locked in an ancient battle to protect our world from demons. After the disappearance of her mother (Lena Headey), Clary must join forces with a group of Shadowhunters, who introduce her to a dangerous alternate New York called Downworld, filled with demons, warlocks, vampires, werewolves and other deadly creatures. Based on the worldwide best-selling book series.

There are no words..I want it to be August already. Lily Collins makes a great Clary, and Jace..hmm.. I’ll have to see the entire movie to make a judgement call. It’s making me want to pick up the book and re-read City of Bones all over again. I did remember finding a lot of similar Harry Potter references, but ah well. Let’s just say Cassandra Clare was inspired by Harry Potter..

What do you all think????

This trailer was amazing, and they got it to us so fast! Personally, I think Jamie will make a great Jace, even though he’s not exactly the way I pictured him. The way he acted around Clary, even in the trailer, convinced me.

It feels like so long ago that I read City of Bones. It was maybe the first urban fantasy type of book I read. I just remember being in Chapters and being drawn in by the cover. This was wayyy before I ever read book blogs, or YA was a huge thing like it is now, so it was kind of cool to have discovered that on my own.

I was concerned about A LOT of the casting decisions at first: Clary, Jace, Alec, Jocelyn, Valentine… okay everybody. I think it’s a really weird mish mash of established and less established actors. For the most part I’m really happy with everything, though I still don’t find Jamie Campbell Bower attractive at all, but what can you do. I’m ridiculously excited for the movie now though. I was pretty much flailing around excitedly while watching the trailer.

I am really excited about this book, but I must say that I am incredibly disappointed in the casting at this point. The only one that I really like is Simon. I am just not sure that Lily Collins can be Clary for me. But we shall see. I really, truly hope that I am wrong and that this movie knock my socks off!

Love the trailer! I also have a hard time accepting Jace so have to see the movie first before I judge him. And it’s still next year! That’s too long!

I’m really intrigued! I’ve read COB but I haven’t ever gone back to the others to finish the series yet. I need to do that soon. I’ll probably end up reading them in time for the movie. But the trailer’s really interesting! I approve.

I don’t know what to say, yet. I read City of Bones last year; though I wasn’t able to finish the entire series, I liked the first book. I’m going to read it again before seeing the movie. It looks exciting!

    This looks great!

I’ve had City of Bones sitting here for ages and have never read it, so I’m really going to need to do something about that. Also going to need to show my boyfriend the trailer–I know the next movie we’ll be seeing together after The Hobbit!
